An up-tempo century designed to challenge but not kill us :) We'll hit the northern loop first while it's early and quiet, stopping at Turkey Hill at mile 25 for water and snacks. Our midway point will be back at the cars at Broad Run Park; make sure you have what you need for that refueling in your car. At mile 75 we'll stop in at Farmer & Co. in Unionville for an espresso, more snacks, and some courage. A few gratuitous climbs at the very end to make sure we're all alive before celebrating and picnicking with WCCC friends back at the park. Performance-wise, the goal is to come in at 18 mph or above. Dosing the effort will be important but with a good group sharing the work, it's very do-able. The reward for the effort will be a myriad of beautiful roads, especially up north and out west. (And yes, the start time is 6:00 am in order to be back on time for the picnic; you can sleep when you're dead!)
